RECORD COLLECTOR PRESENTS THE SMITHS: A Record Collector Special Edition

RECORD COLLECTOR PRESENTS THE SMITHS A Record Collector Magazine Special Edition The cover for Record Collector Presents The Smiths A special bookazine was published in April 2022,  "Record Collector Presents The Smiths" , which unsurprisingly concerns the famed Manchester pop combo. It contains interviews with former band members, the top 100 rarities, updated reviews of their seminal albums and a look at the classic artwork used for their celebrated musical output.  I appear as part of a feature about fans and their treasured collections. MORRISSEY AND I: An Imagined Conversation

MORRISSEY AND I: An Imagined Conversation The Smiths Tour Poster 1986 Having given the matter a lot of thought over the years, I realise that Morrissey was beckoning to me a good while before I became a devotee of both his and The Smiths. The problem is that I wasn't quite ready yet, at least not until the year in which Mozzer launched his solo career anyway. Better late than never! 1986 - 13/14 Years Old THE SMITHS - PANIC Its infuriating catchiness appealed to the massive Pop Head that I was at the time, despite me not being a fan of The Smiths. I did like Morrissey's stance on the monarchy, however. Panic MORRISSEY: Angie! ANGIE: [Half glances in the direction of Morrissey’s voice] What? MORRISSEY: Come here! ANGIE: I'm busy! THE SMITHS - ASK I absolutely adored the video, and it was another delightfully snappy number which I was somewhat partial to. Ask MORRISSEY: Angie! ANGIE: [Pays just a wee bit more attention than last time] What is it? MORRISSEY: Come over here...

MANCHESTER MET LIFE FIVE MINUTES WITH... ANGIE COOKE I did this piece as a feature on the intranet at my current workplace.  This is the full version as the final one was slightly edited for publication.  The husband was not impressed that I failed to mention him in my ideal weekend scenario! We need to talk about Kevin - My Adventure with Mr Cummins

WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN  My Adventure with Mr Cummins The Official cover of  Morrissey: Alone and Palely Loitering  by  Kevin Cummins I am featured in the latest book released by Kevin Cummins , the famed photographer who has previously worked extensively with the NME  in particular.  It is called "Morrissey: Alone and Palely Loitering" , and was published in September 2018.  I appear in the chapter based on fans with a shot taken by Kevin himself of my Smiths related tattoo (what an honour, for sure!) which reads "Oh Manchester, so much to answer for" .  I was also interviewed via email by the literary academic Dr Gail Crowther who has contributed to some of the prose written, and quotes taken from my online discussion with her were used in an essay she produced under the aforementioned section entitled "Devotional Bodies" . Where it all began! My "Oh Manchester, so much to answer" for tattoo Kevin Cummins taking a phot...

What Is It I Must Do For Thee, Dear, Dear Morrissey? - The Changing Face(s) of Steven Patrick

WHAT IS IT I MUST DO FOR THEE, DEAR, DEAR, MORRISSEY THE CHANGING FACE(S) OF STEVEN PATRICK This article featured in the one-off fanzine Sounds Like Morrissey  (produced by none other than Mark "Smiths Indeed" Taylor ) way back in 1992.  I originally wrote it some time in 1991, and I'm afraid it was a tad negative in nature!  Soz, Moz! But as you can see, I'm still here many moons later!  I forgot that at the time I offered to assist Mark with a bit of typesetting for this excellent publication, but I found the evidence amongst some old correspondence! Where my esteemed "writing" career began, at Almondbury in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire! Note my "famed" name of old! This was not long after I went to see Morrissey for the first time at Wembley Arena in London in 1991, when I asked Mark if the rumours were true about him planning to produce a Morrissey Fanzine This is the original article that I submitted to Mark, b...
