#MOZARMY MEET 2019

#MOZARMY MEET 2019
For the 3rd year running, my husband Jay and I attended the (seventh!) #MozArmy Meet that was held this year on 4th May to celebrate all things The Smiths and Mozzer.  It’s an event that we’ve both come to look forward to immensely, as we always thoroughly enjoy not only meeting old friends, but making new acquaintances also.

This year was no different, except that it was the best yet!  We had a grand old time, it was such fun!

As well as the obvious (The Smiths and Morrissey, but of course!), I would also like to thank the wonderful Julie Hamill for her tireless efforts putting on this great get together every year, The Gill Family and in particular Rose and Georgia, John Robb, Andy Barnett, Stefan Krix, Salford Lads Club, the Star and Garter, The(se) Smiths (unfortunately, I didn't get any pics of their frankly incredible set regrettably, but I can assure you that Big Jimmy and the boys were on bloody fire!), and last but by no means least, the fantastic peeps who make up the mighty, the wondrous Moz Army!  A lovelier bunch you will not meet!

Photos were taken by me, Jay, The Gill Family and various members of the Moz Army including Stefan Krix, Andrea Willoughby-Jones, Maria Stewart, Andy Barnett, Paul Wardle, Denise Robinson, Jane Steele and Glenn Stevenson which I mined and harvested from social media.  Hope y’all don’t mind!

The sign at Southern Cemetery, the font for which is ITC Benguiat.  Okay then, fact fans: as once imparted to me by a wise man on that there Twitter if my memory serves me well, this now legendary and iconic typeface not only featured on Strangeways, Here We Come which was the the last hurrah by The Smiths, but it has also been used by the hit Netflix series Stranger Things.  Coincidence?  I think not!

My last one being Drury Lane Theatre in London way back in February 1995 ( over 21 YEARS ago!! ).  When Moz declared in 2015 that he wasn’t going to come back to the UK to play, I have to admit that I was, as well as being a mite bemused, pretty damned devastated, and a part of me actually died if the truth be known.  I was worried that I’d left it too late and that I’d never lay eyes on my beloved Misery Mozzery again!  DISASTER !  He’s such a massive Diva!  Having said that, I DO like a man who can have a tantrum-le...

I had tickets for both of the Manchester Castlefield Bowl dates, as did some of my friends who had travelled all the way from the US and Canada, and we were all devastated to say the very least. Please do forgive my rant now, but a certain so-called “Superstar” DJ who held his pathetic little anti-Morrissey event on the same night as the ill-fated first Castlefield date, who wa...
